About Kate

Kate Genovese

Kate Genovese was born in Watertown, Massachusetts, the sixth of seven children. Her parents were big on education and reading — her father encouraged her to read at least three books a month from the age of six, and her love of reading started then.

Kate's passion for writing didn't start until she was well into her forties. During a difficult time in her life, she discovered the healing power of writing and creating characters, and went on to publish Thirty Years in September: A Nurse's Memoir; Loving Joe Gallucci, a true love story centered on the hepatitis C virus that has been adapted into a film script; and Two Weeks Since My Last Confession, a family drama. Her most recent book, Hat Tricks from Heaven, tells the story of her late son Chris and his battle with opioid addiction.

Kate has been a registered nurse for more than 30 years. She is involved in alternative medicine, runs her own Reiki practice, and is a member of the Holistic Nurses Association and the Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery (MOAR). For 10 years she hosted Table Talk, an interview program on Woburn Public Media Center that also aired on WinCAM in Winchester.

She has been married to her husband Gary for more than 35 years. They live north of Boston with their golden retriever, Frankie.
